Talking for Change

About

Talking for Change provides pedophiles in certain regions of Canada with free therapy from trained clinicians. Each therapist involved is also part of the team researching the effectiveness of the program.

The organization also provides anonymous support via a nationwide helpline (which can be accessed by phone or online chat) for pedophiles who are not ready or willing to seek professional support.

What they offer

Privacy information

Like most therapy offerings, Talking for Change requires clients to disclose their identity before receiving treatment. This requirement does not apply to users of their helpline and chat service, which does not collect any identifying information by default.

In both cases, if they learn that someone is planning to harm themselves or others, or that a child has experienced or is likely to experience abuse or neglect, they are legally obligated to report the situation. This includes sharing any identifying information they have with law enforcement.

You can learn more about Talking for Change's mandatory reporting requirements in their Privacy Policy. They also have an article with additional information about mandatory reporting and their obligations on their website.
